Here is a nice one from back in 1983 on our 'illegal' half-pipe we built without any permit within a week during Easter vacation.
The platform was added later on....YOYO with hair!

I know.! We were talking about the value of all the boards that got wrecked during that era
I'm sure that metalica was snapped on a launch ramp. All the broken ones got nailed to the side of the ramp...and it all went to the dump when we left Mom's place.
Probably better for us in the long run that we actually skated them.
Yoyo, is it actually possible to build a back yard ramp in Germany and meet all the regulations? I saw what my uncle had to go through to build a tool shed in his yard. Unreal amount of red tape. |

Awesome pics! Backyard ramps rule! I miss the old days.
Back in high school we (our crew) would go to a different spot everyday. We would call up the dude with the car and tell him to pick us all up and head to our ramp for the afternoon and skate till dark.
What was great about the backyard ramps was that everyone was different in height, width, and tranny size. Adapting and learning on a new ramp was half the fun. We'd street skate one or two days out of the week to avoid getting burned out on the ramps. |

Same here, hill sliding too.
It was cool to see how different ramps breed different styles of skating. Some of the jankyiest ramps produced the best skaters. |

I've got a couple of old pics of the farm ramp in Raleigh, from around '88 or so. I'll try to dig them up and scan them. A few were of Fred Smith skating it. I lived near there, and passed that place nearly every day. |

Calgary was the ramp central for a couple years—there's about 8 more ramps I need to dig up pictures of. Those were the days, man.
