So who here is actually using bent screens? Well, I decided to give it a go...
Love how it fits the decks just right!!
What a bitch it was streching this thing. Should be printing something within the next week or so (need to build a jig to hold this thing). Man what a monster!! I used the Donald20 plans, with some alteration for the decks we are using. I'm getting a friend to CNC two of these for my registration:
Hopefully it will all work. Anyone else doing anything like this? I know Trashcan hooked it up w/ a chair backing, but is anyone using this style of screen? How is printing on something this big?... I need longer arms.

FUCK YEAH BRO!! now THATS what i like to see round here.... not that i am anyone but...
LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES IM DOING FLAT SCREEN RIGHT NOW. BUT ONCE I GOT THAT DOWN IM GOING TO BENT SCREENS
I took a stab at bent screens a while back but figured i should learn flat first..
SO... HOW DID YOU GET THAT THING STRETCHED and how ddid you figure out your alterations. i have like 4 different shapes and sizes and at i honestly didnt think my marketing skills were as good as they are i am selling a lot of boards and just started out... i wasnt ready for the onslaught ..........long story short i need to step up production techniques.. and outsourcing my printing is out of the question.. |

LOL - lots of staples and help from my bro! Actually it wasn't all that bad, same technic as doing the flat ones... start in the middle and work it around.
Alterations..
I drew out the above onto a 2x12... and figured that the 30degree angle on the blueprint was too much for my decks. Also the cruvey part on the blueprint didn't seem that drastic (compared to Donald20 actuall screens). So I used a compass and some tracing paper to get the bends the way I thought they should be for my decks. All in all I think it turned out pretty good. I'll post some pics of the finished jig and registration once they are complete.... I can't wait to do some full passes on this thing!

I've got that same setup, stoney. It works pretty good. A bit of a pain in the ass for cleanup as it's such a huge screen. the other problem was burning the screen, and keeping the transparency stuck to it well. It works well with tip to tail printing after you get over those initial hurdles. Personally, I don't use my tip to tail screens a lot. just too much of a pain to work with comparitively speaking. |

Hey Tim - what are you using for registration? And do you hinge yours or just use a big ass frame for the whole thing?

I used a 2X10. cut the curved screen frame out, and used the matching side of the 2x8 and made a jig out of it. I use dowel rods for registration. I use hinges to keep it all together. It's f'n huge, and a pain, but it works great |

Tim - would you mind posting a pic of your setup?
I'm still not sure how I'm gonna hinge the sucker. I would love to figure a way to use jiffy hinges....
