Probably a lesser grade of urethane was used, but so far I have no feedback on this.
US wheels still rule the world, but a minimum of more than 500 wheels and the molding costs of thousands of $$ make it impossible in the small Freestyle world to sell wheels.
I can order wheels one at a time if needed at no extra cost!
hey sorry about that last post. my insults were uncalled for and not very funny. what you say about the wheels as far as cost is true. I'm just not so sure about the quality one can achive by making wheels in ones basement. |

Well, his wheels have heart and soul!!!!
He's like a mad chemist... and people love his wheels.
He even sold some street wheels to shops and they reorder.
The downside is that they last too long.......go figure what's happening with the big wheel manus everywhere.
Why should they make wheels that last???!!!! |

why couldnt home made wheels be as good as big company wheels? Home made decks are every bit as good (sometimes better) as big company decks depending on the skill of the person making them.
all they are is urethane mixture poured into a mold and the chemistry behind wheel manufacture is very simple indeed.
(so simple you can actually buy all you need from a decent craft store with any sort of molding equipment)
The only reason I can see for not making your own wheels is that the chemicals are dangerous to have around kids. |

i only can say ther is nothing special on making wheels in a basement .
the only tricky thing is to have the right mixture of the urethan ,
then you can make HIGH Quality SKATEBOARD wheels.

Hey Skip! Nice wheels.
What are you making your molds out of?
Plaster of Paris? |

Not plaster of Paris..... some kind of very hard molding resin afaik.
Two part mold to get the bearing seat made and to pull the finished wheel out. |

I am also considering manufacturing a wheel mold. I am a welder and have access to any metal working tools this process might require. Step one acquire aluminum, if someone could guide me a little father I might be able to make some progress. |
